IMAGINE FINDING ME; GENERATIONS
Imagine finding me is a series of double self-portraits which are created around a collection of her childhood photographs taken from a family album. With the help of a digital retoucher, Otsuka inserts contemporary self-portraits into old photographs of herself from various places she has visited.

In Generations (2000), which was inspired by Japanese classic films by Y. Ozu and a writer such as Amy Tan, Otsuka turns the camera on her grandmother’s house in Japan, appearing together with both her grandmother and mother.Born in Tokyo, Japan and came to UK to be educated Summerhill School at the age of 10. She has exhibited widely in UK, Europe, North America and Asia. She had a major solo show at Huis Marseille Museum for Photography, Amsterdam. Group shows include The J. Paul Getty Museum, LACMA, US, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. She has also published four books in Japan as a writer and published her first autobiographical book at the age of 15 to much acclaim.
